On September 11th, CASPA invites you to a Career Development Symposium. Four tech executives are going to cover their career paths from different angles in Engineering Fellow, engineering management, Product Management, Product Marketing, Business Development, Corporate Strategy, etc.

Then we will host a panel discussion will further explore more interesting questions, such as why I didn't get promoted when my colleague did? We’ll also open the questions to the audience to address any questions you may have. Please come to join us!

Steven Woo, Fellow, Rambus

Bio: Dr. Steven Woo is a Fellow and Distinguished Inventor at Rambus Inc., working on technology and business development efforts across the company. He is currently leading research work within Rambus Labs on advanced memory systems for accelerators and computing infrastructure, and also manages an architecture team. Since joining Rambus, Steve has worked in various roles leading architecture, technology, and performance analysis efforts, and in marketing and product planning roles leading strategy and customer programs.  Steve received his PhD and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and Master of Engineering and BS Engineering degrees from Harvey Mudd College.

Kevin Hart, Vice President of Product Strategy, Flex

Bio: Kevin Hart is Vice President of Product Strategy at Flex (NASDAQ: FLEX), a global technology company that provides innovative design, engineering, manufacturing, and real-time supply chain insight and logistics services to companies of all sizes in various industries and end-markets. In his current role, Mr. Hart is responsible for the product strategy focused on the Cloud, Communications, and Edge Computing market segments. Mr. Hart has over 20 years of product development experience for compute and storage products, including senior positions at Intel Corporation and Original Design Manufacturers. Mr. Hart holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a computer design emphasis from the University of North Florida, and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University. He has also completed executive programs at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Mr. Hart served in the United States Marine Corps as unit leader for long-range surveillance systems, receiving several personal commendations, and two Meritorious Unit Citations.

Lijie Guan, Vice President of Engineering, Western Digital

Bio: Dr. Lijie Guan currently is a Vice President at Western Digital Corporation. At current positon, he is responsible for WDC’s world-wide magnetic recording head development. In his 15-years’ distinguished career, Dr Guan had served various executives positions at TDK, HGST and WDC, and led the R&D teams to set industrial standard and to demonstrate technology leadership. He is deemed as one of the top experts in magnetic sensor. Dr. Guan received B.S. degree from University of Science and Technology of China and Ph.D from Carnegie Mellon University.

Ho-Wai Wong-Lam, Vice President of Stratergy, NXP

Bio: Ho Wai is a technology and semiconductor veteran for 30+ years. She started with Philips Research in The Netherlands, and moved to US to join Philips Semiconductors, which became NXP Semiconductors. She has worked in a wide range of disciplines, from system research to algorithm design, from IC architecture to software, from leading application support to project management, from engineering management to product marketing and business development. Since 2013, she has worked as a strategist at NXP in multiple roles, including being part of NXP sales management team for 2 years, and as part of NXP non-automotive CTO core team for 3 years. In 2019, she led the integration of the acquired Marvell wireless business within NXP. In her current role as VP strategy, she supports the advanced analog business at NXP, as a strategist on focused projects covering both organic and inorganic strategy development. Ho Wai graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong, and got her master’s degree in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, through a Philips scholarship. She is (co-)author of 13 granted patents, and a dozen peer-reviewed journal papers. Ho Wai is an engineer at heart and a strategist by profession. She is a team player, team leader and a team builder. She believes in Tech for Good - doing well while doing good.

Jay Tang, Head of Product Marketing and Business Development, PETAiO

Bio: Jay Tang is the head of Product Marketing and Business Development at PETAiO, an ASIC startup company in storage industry. In his current position, he is responsible for defining product roadmap, develop new customers and Sales. Mr. Tang started his career as application engineer and he had over 10 years experience in technical program management, product management and product marketing in the storage industry, including . Mr. Tang holds an MBA degree in UC Berkeley and electrical engineering degree in UCLA.
